What Is The Thermal Conductivity Of Ceramic Fiber Paper

Aug 19, 2021

SUNTHERM ceramic fiber paper is made of high purity ceramic fiber bulk, which is mainly used in high temperature proof area.  With advanced production technology, the fiber distribution is very uniform, and the thickness and bulk density of the ceramic fiber paper can also be strictly controlled. Ceramic fiber paper is made of ceramic fiber plus a small amount of binder, which is scientifically selected and strictly controlled. The binder will be completely burned out during use.

The heat of ceramic fiber paper is transferred along the fiber, and the fiber is rarely perpendicular to the hot surface, and other fibers are overlapped with each other, which increases the thermal resistance of heat conduction. Therefore, the thermal conductivity of the ceramic fiber paper is not significant.

The fiber in the ceramic fiber paper is not transparent, making the heat rays unable to penetrate the fiber, and the fiber is very fine, so it cannot withstand the heat radiation well, so the heat transfer effect is not significant.

About the convection heat transfer of air, Because the ceramic fibers overlap each other, a lot of air silos are formed inside the ceramic fiber paper. These air silos store a lot of air, which makes the air unable to move freely, and it is generally relatively stopped. The heat absorbed by the air can only be transmitted inside the air silos by conduction, and because the gas has low thermal conductivity in the stopped state, it is impossible for the ceramic fiber paper to use the air for heat transfer.

Our ceramic fiber papers are mainly used for kinds of instruments and equipment, electric and thermal insulation materials for electric heating elements, thermal insulation materials in the automotive industry, expansion joint filling materials, building materials and metallurgy, insulating materials in the glass industry, gaskets for molten metals, etc.
