The Power Of Ceramic Fiber Cannot Be Underestimated

Sep 08, 2023

What is ceramic fiber

    Ceramic fiber is a fibrous lightweight refractory material with the advantages of light weight, high temperature resistance, good thermal stability, low thermal conductivity, small specific heat and resistance to mechanical vibration.

    At present, ceramic fiber materials have been widely used in industrial sectors such as metallurgy, machinery, petroleum, chemical industry, electronics, shipbuilding, transportation and light industry, and are used in cutting-edge science and technology such as aerospace and atoms. The world's major industrialized countries are competing to develop the ceramic fiber industry. At present, the world's total annual output of ceramic fibers has exceeded 300,000 tons. Ordinary ceramic fiber is also called aluminum silicate fiber. Because one of its main components is alumina, and alumina is the main component of porcelain, it is called ceramic fiber. The addition of zirconium oxide or chromium oxide can further increase the service temperature of ceramic fibers.

    Ceramic fiber products are an excellent refractory material. It has the advantages of light weight, high temperature resistance, small heat capacity, good thermal insulation performance, good high temperature insulation performance, and non-toxicity. There are more than 200 large and small ceramic fiber manufacturers in China, but the production process of ceramic fibers with a classification temperature of 1430°C (including zirconium fiber) and below is only divided into two types: spinning blankets and blowing blankets.

Applications of ceramic fibers

1) Fire doors and fire shutter materials, high temperature furnace door curtains;

2) Heat insulation of engine and instruments;

3) Fireproof cable covering materials, high temperature fireproof materials;

4) Insulation covering cloth, high-temperature expansion joint filler, and flue lining;

5) Heat insulation of various kilns, high-temperature pipes and containers;

6) High temperature resistant labor protection products, fireproof clothing, high temperature filtration, sound absorption and other asbestos replacement application fields;

7) Aerospace, construction, building materials, high/low temperature engineering fire prevention and heat insulation and other fields;

8) Furnace tension materials, heat insulation curtains, furnace track cover materials, gaskets for metal heat treatment, catalyst carriers, heat insulation pads, high temperature insulators, extremely low temperature insulation materials, and heat insulation rings.
