The following equipment is needed to produce stone wool:
Melting furnace: it is used to melt rocks (such as basalt or diabase) to get a molten mass to produce the fiber structure of stone wool.
Spinning machine: this machine is used to form rough glass fibers from the molten mass. It has special discs or rollers that twist the material and form fibers of the desired thickness.
Binder machine: after twisting and forming the fibers, a binder machine is used to apply binder material on the surface of the fibers. The binder material helps the fibers to stick together and form rock wool.
Cutting machine: this tool is used to cut the stone wool into the desired sizes and shapes.
Packing machine: after cutting to the right size, the rock wool is packed into rolls or sheets using a special packing machine.
Additional equipment: additional equipment such as ventilation systems, waste treatment systems and systems to control the quality of the stone wool produced may also be required.
