As a kind of thermal insulation material often used in petrochemical industry and machinery industry, aluminum silicate thermal insulation material has ultra-low thermal conductivity and is widely used. The reason why the ceramic fiber blanket has such a good thermal insulation effect is that there are pores between the aluminum silicate fibers. When the specific gravity of the fibers is the same, the smaller the diameter of the fibers, the smaller the pores between the fibers, and the greater the impact on the transmission. The greater the thermal barrier effect will be. For ordinary items, the heavier the weight, the faster the heat conduction, but it is not absolute. The aluminum silicate fiber is light in weight, and the heat conduction is very slow. So it has a very good thermal insulation effect.
But when the aluminum silicate fiber contacts with water, the water droplets will become the heat conduction medium in the pores. Thereby, the heat transfer is accelerated, so that the aluminum silicate fiber cotton loses the function of thermal insulation.
In addition, before use, be sure to understand the working environment atmosphere where the ceramic fiber blanket is located, and clarify the atmosphere in the furnace. If it is corroded during use, it will quickly reduce the thermal insulation performance of the product. Such as H2, CO, SO2, NH3 and alkali metal, fluorine, chlorine and sulfite ions can affect the thermal insulation performance of aluminum silicate thermal insulation materials.
Therefore, in the process of use, in addition to understanding the use environment, we must also pay attention not to contact water, otherwise aluminum silicate will be useless.
