What to do when your gas logs fall over(Part 2)

Jun 15, 2022

2). Fireplace function - save money and last longer

Another consequence of incorrect placement of logs is increased soot. Excessive soot can reduce the functionality of the fireplace and shorten its lifespan. It blocks gas flow, reduces heat output, and requires more frequent cleaning.

If you pay someone to clean your fireplace (as you should), if your logs are beautifully placed but the wrong placement leaves your fireplace covered in soot, you will often pay them.

Why hire a professional cleaner? Because they know all the places that need cleaning without damaging the components and will prolong their life.

3). Fireplace compatibility - any set of fake logs will not work

If you rearrange them the way you want, you're deviating from a tested and proven standard.

Best of all, each brand of log sets fits a specific fireplace in a specific way. That's why you can't just go and buy a bunch of fake wood and assume they'll work in your fireplace.

But what if my ceramic log keeps falling off?

This can happen. If so, your best bet is to get the pros out and put them back the right way. If it's been a while since your last cleaning and maintenance, your fireplace repairer may be able to fix the logs at no extra cost if you do it all in one go.

Likewise, you should not use your fireplace if your log falls. Instead of trying to put them back in the way they were, you should call in a professional.
