Three Characteristics Of Refractory Materials

Nov 14, 2023

When using the three properties of refractory materials, refractory materials will be subject to physical, chemical, mechanical and other influences at high temperatures, and are prone to melting and softening, or being corroded and worn, or cracked and damaged, thereby interrupting operations and being contaminated by pollutants. . Therefore, it must have the following three properties.

1. High fire resistance. In order to meet the requirements of high-temperature operations, refractory materials should have the property of not softening and melting at sufficiently high temperatures.

2. Good load softening temperature. Refractory materials can withstand the load of the rotary kiln and the stress during operation, without losing structural strength, softening, deformation and collapse at high temperatures.

3. It has volume stability at high temperatures. When refractory materials are used at high temperatures, the volume will change due to the internal physical and chemical reactions of the material. The volume of refractory materials is required to be stable at high temperatures so that the kiln masonry will not expand and crack due to excessive expansion or contraction of the product, or crack due to excessive shrinkage, thereby reducing the service life of the masonry.
