How To Judge The Quality Of Ceramic Fiber Blanket

Through the return visits to customers during this period of time, we found that some people still have doubts about the performance and quality of ceramic fiber blankets. With the rapid development of science and technology, our country’s industrial structure is constantly upgrading. In order to meet the equipment needs of all walks of life, insulation materials are constantly updating, especially the more popular high-temperature materials. Our ceramic fiber blankets, with its light weight, strong tensile strength, and strong toughness, is widely used in the fields of pipeline insulation, kiln backing sealing and insulation.

Then how to judge the quality of ceramic fiber blanket?

1.  The appearance of ceramic fiber blanket

(1) Ceramic fiber blanket has white color and regular size. Good ceramic fiber products are in white color, if in yellow color, usually it is low quality.

(2) High-quality ceramic fiber blankets have clear texture, regular needle punching patterns, and low slag content. Good ceramic fiber blankets generally contain less than 15% of slag. Tear the fiber blanket to see if it contains some brown or black residue. At present, the ceramic fiber blanket produced by our factory adopts the double-sides needle process, which makes the surface of the ceramic fiber blanket more regular and enhances its toughness.

2. Performance of ceramic fiber needled blanket

(1) Tensile strength: The ceramic fiber needled blanket is made by melting the raw material through a resistance furnace, then spun the melting material into fibers, collect the fiber through a fiber collector and produce loose ceramic fiber bulk, which is needled into ceramic fiber blanket by needling machine. All our ceramic fiber blankets adopt double-sides needle process, which have higher Tensile strength and uniform surface.  Even working long time in neutral and oxidizing atmosphere, ceramic fiber blanket can maintain good tensile strength, toughness and fiber structure.

Therefore, better quality ceramic fiber blanket has a certain degree of toughness. If ceramic fiber blanket falls off during stretching, has poor resilience, or is easy to shrink and break at high temperatures, it indicates that quality of ceramic fiber blanket is poor.

3. Raw material of ceramic fiber blanket

The grades of ceramic fiber products are based on the Al2O3 content and the addition of other raw materials.

(1) 1260C standard: Standard ceramic fiber blanket is white with slightly dull.

(2) 1260C High pure and above type: Pure white at the first glance.

(3) 1430C High Zirconium: The color of HTZ ceramic fiber blanket is more like milky white.

4. Spun and blown ceramic fiber blanket can be distinguished by touch

Except high aluminum ceramic fiber blanket, all other types are made of spun ceramic fiber bulk, which have better toughness and tensile strength.

(1) Spun ceramic fiber blanket, has long and thick fiber, good tensile strength and is hard and not easy to break.

(2) Blown ceramic fiber blanket, has short and thin fiber, insufficient pulling force and is soft and fluffy

Spun ceramic fiber bulk is generally used for high-temperature insulation blanket or processed into modules, while blown ceramic fiber bulk is mostly used to make ceramic fiber paper, ceramic fiber board and special-shaped ceramic fiber, or blast furnace gap filling/spraying and so on.
