SUNTHERM ALWOOL continuous alumina fiber is a high-temperature resistant alumina-silica material produced via sol-gel process. Capable of long-term use above 1000 °C, it can be woven into flexible textiles or processed into composites, making it ideal for aerospace, high-tech industries, and defense applications.

Product Description:
SUNTHERM ALWOOL alumina continuous fiber is primarily composed of alumina and silica. It is produced using the "sol-gel" process and can be used for extended periods in high-temperature environments above 1000°C. It can be woven into soft fiber textiles such as fiber ropes and fiber cloth, and can also be manufactured into various composite materials. Its forms are convenient and flexible, making it a much-needed material in emerging high-tech industries, aerospace, and advanced weaponry for national defense.
According to the alumina content, our product models are classified into: AL17, AL18, and AL19.
Product Features:
Excellent High & Low Temperature Resistance: Service temperature up to 1100°C–1300°C. Strength remains undiminished after 24-hour treatment in liquid nitrogen (-196°C).
Excellent Acid & Alkali Resistance: Superior corrosion resistance, offering excellent resistance to most chemicals (except hydrofluoric acid, phosphoric acid, and strong alkalis).
Excellent Electrical Properties & Insulation: Electrical resistance stabilizes above 600°C, and the polycrystalline alumina fiber has a low dielectric constant, making it suitable for high-temperature wave-transparent materials.
Excellent Flexibility: At room temperature, alumina continuous fiber can be bent over 1400 times; it can still be bent 60 times after treatment at 1000°C.
High Designability: Products with different properties can be obtained by adjusting chemical composition and heat treatment processes.

AL17 Fiber: The fiber features a microcrystalline polycrystalline structure (γ-Al₂O₃ + Amorphous), with a diameter of 9-12μm. Its room-temperature tensile strength can exceed 2.0 GPa, and its long-term service temperature is above 1200°C. It exhibits excellent high-temperature resistance and creep resistance.
AL18 Fiber: The fiber is microcrystalline (α-Al₂O₃ + Mullite), with a diameter of 11-14μm. Its room-temperature tensile strength can exceed 2.0 GPa, and its long-term service temperature is above 1300°C. Currently, it is the alumina fiber with the best creep resistance. Its strength remains essentially unchanged below 1100°C, retains over 90% of room-temperature strength at 1200°C, and retains over 80% at 1300°C.
AL19 Fiber: The fiber is microcrystalline (α-Al₂O₃), with a diameter of 11-14μm. Its room-temperature tensile strength can exceed 3.0 GPa, and its long-term service temperature is above 1100°C. It offers high room-temperature strength and good mechanical properties, making it suitable as a composite reinforcement material, but it has poor high-temperature creep resistance.
