1600°C Polycrystalline Mullite Insulation Blanket

1600°C Polycrystalline Mullite Insulation Blanket is a high-temperature refractory insulation material made primarily of mullite (chemical formula: 3Al₂O₃·2SiO₂) crystals. It is produced using high-purity alumina and silica as raw materials. Through a chemical colloid or sol-gel process, a precursor solution is prepared and then transformed into fibers by blowing or spinning techniques. The resulting fiber cotton is further processed through high-temperature sintering and crystallization, followed by needling or reinforcement treatments, to form a durable blanket structure.

Description

Product Introduction

1600°C Polycrystalline Mullite Insulation Blanket is manufactured using high-purity alumina and silica as raw materials. A colloidal solution is prepared through the sol-gel process, which is then fiberized by blowing or spinning, followed by drying and heat treatment. The resulting fibers form a stable mullite crystal structure, giving the blanket excellent high-temperature stability and resistance to powdering.

1600°C Polycrystalline Mullite Insulation Blanket is lightweight and flexible, with very low thermal conductivity and minimal linear shrinkage at high temperatures. It also provides outstanding thermal shock resistance and strong chemical stability. Thanks to these properties, polycrystalline mullite fiber blankets are widely used as energy-saving insulation materials in high-temperature industrial furnaces, heat treatment equipment, furnace door seals, and furnace linings.

Applications of Polycrystalline Mullite Fiber Blankets

Polycrystalline mullite fiber blankets are widely used in high-temperature insulation and refractory applications. They are commonly applied as kiln linings (hot face lining) or backup insulation layers in industrial furnaces such as ceramic kilns, metallurgical furnaces, glass furnaces, and heat treatment equipment.

They also serve as furnace door seals, thermal sealing gaskets, and high-temperature sealing strips inside furnace chambers, ensuring reliable thermal sealing and improved energy efficiency.

In addition, they can be used as high-temperature filtration materials and thermal insulation for heat treatment equipment, steel plants, chemical processing units, and aerospace applications. These blankets contribute significantly to energy saving and emission reduction in high-temperature industries.

Beyond insulation, polycrystalline mullite fiber blankets also provide fire protection, thermal shielding, and sound insulation. They are often further processed into fiber boards, modules, special-shaped parts, and composite assemblies to meet different engineering requirements.

Polycrystalline Mullite Fiber Blanket: The Foundation for Advanced Thermal Management and Insulation

Polycrystalline mullite fiber blankets have become a critical advancement in high-temperature insulation and refractory solutions across multiple industries. Made from aluminosilicate components and manufactured through precise crystallization processes, these blankets form a stable polycrystalline microstructure. This unique structure provides exceptional thermal shock resistance, low thermal conductivity, and the ability to maintain structural integrity at temperatures exceeding 1,400°C, making them an excellent alternative to traditional ceramic fiber products.

In addition to outstanding thermal performance, mullite fiber blankets exhibit excellent chemical inertness and corrosion resistance, ensuring long-term reliability even in harsh, corrosive environments. The inherent stability of the mullite phase minimizes crystal phase transformations during use, reducing the risk of fiber degradation and contamination. High mechanical strength allows for thinner insulation layers without compromising durability, supporting lightweight and compact design solutions across multiple applications.

Polycrystalline mullite fiber blankets are widely used in critical thermal management applications, including furnace linings, kiln shells, and insulation for ladles and tundishes in the metallurgical industry, as well as catalyst support insulation in petrochemical processing. Their unique combination of properties also makes them indispensable as sound insulation materials in power generation facilities, where operational safety and energy efficiency are paramount. As industries increasingly pursue net-zero emissions and process optimization, high-performance insulation materials like polycrystalline mullite fiber blankets are becoming strategically essential.
