Thermal Insulation Polycrystalline Mullite Fiber Board
Thermal insulation polycrystalline mullite fiber board is a rigid fiber product made from polycrystalline alumina fiber wool as the primary raw material, combined with inorganic refractory aggregate, powder, and various additives, through a scientifically formulated and specialized process. This material exhibits excellent machinability and can be formed into various complex and precisely sized refractory special-shaped parts through drilling and milling techniques.
Description
Product Introduction
Thermal insulation polycrystalline mullite fiber board is a high-performance refractory thermal insulation material made from polycrystalline alumina-silica fibers (Al₂O₃ ≥ 70%) produced by a sol-gel process. It exhibits a unique microcrystalline structure. Manufactured on a modern, specialized production line, this product can operate at temperatures up to 1600°C, combining excellent high-temperature resistance and thermal stability.
Thermal insulation polycrystalline mullite fiber board exhibits extremely low thermal conductivity (0.15-0.25 W/m·K), excellent thermal shock and chemical resistance, excellent dimensional stability, and strong machinability. It is widely used in the metallurgical industry (such as ladles and heating furnaces), petrochemical energy (cracking furnaces and reforming furnaces), aerospace (thermal protection systems), and heat treatment equipment (vacuum furnaces and sintering furnaces). It is an ideal, energy-efficient thermal insulation solution for high-temperature environments.

What is the thermal stability of polycrystalline mullite fiber?
Polycrystalline mullite fiber is a new type of refractory fiber material. It offers advantages such as high temperature resistance and high mechanical strength. However, many users are still unaware of its thermal stability and are still considering whether it is suitable for their application.
Polycrystalline mullite fiber is the latest high-temperature fiber available domestically and internationally, and is an ultra-lightweight, high-temperature refractory fiber. It belongs to the Al₂O₃-SiO₂ family of ceramic fibers. Its operating temperature is 1500-1700°C, 200-400°C higher than that of glassy fibers. Its thermal stability is unmatched by any other dense or lightweight refractory material.
Polycrystalline mullite fiber products are porous products composed of interwoven fibers with diameters of 2-5 μm. They resist structural stress even under rapid temperature fluctuations, and they do not spall under rapid cooling and heating conditions. They are also resistant to bending, twisting, and mechanical vibration. Therefore, they are not subject to any rapid temperature fluctuations and will not crack, peel, or break after repeated rapid cooling and heating cycles. Refractory fiber products are inherently soft, flexible, and porous materials, so the expansion of individual fibers is absorbed by the fibers themselves.
Therefore, when using polycrystalline mullite fibers, expansion joints and furnace drying issues are completely eliminated. The furnace's steel structure also doesn't need to account for the fiber's expansion stress, resulting in a lighter structure and reduced steel usage.
