Cleaning of ceramic log

Mar 21, 2023

Gently wipe each log with a microfiber cloth or other lint free cloth and place the log on a soft old towel after cleaning it. If additional dust removal is required, vacuum the log using a decorative brush attachment. If not, use an old toothbrush, nail brush, or any soft-bristled brush to gently brush away the built-up dust. Do not use wire brushes or metal scrubbing pads, as they may damage the log. Don't use water either.

Inspect each log for cracks or damage. If you cannot tell if they are damaged, have them examined by a professional to determine if they need to be replaced, or simply replaced with the same size and type of them. Damaged ceramic fireplace logs can cause harm to other gas components in the fireplace, which can add a greater expense. Just like cleaning logs, it's important to check them once a year, preferably before you use them for the first time after the weather gets cold.

When the logs are out, vacuum out the cobwebs and dust from the fireplace. A hand-held broom helps to reach into corners and is great for cleaning walls and the inside of screens or glass panels at the front of the device. Wear a dust mask and safety goggles when cleaning and vacuuming in the fireplace. After a thorough cleaning, replace the logs according to the manual or the photos you took before disassembly.
